Electrodyne 2000___________________Serious Analog at Tuffy's Barn

When
D.W.Fearn was a young man, he longed for an Electrodyne console to make the kind of recordings he heard on the radio. So did we. He founded a company that built the kind of high-end gear he couldn't afford. We bought an Electrodyne console as soon as we could afford one. Took awhile, though. The one we ended up with is said to have been purchased new by the Grand Ol' Opry, and then went on to record Roy Orbison, The James Gang, Joe Walsh, and the soundtrack to "Smokey and the Bandit II" ; At any rate, it is a classic example of the overbuilt, hand-wired solid-state consoles that ruled the airwaves more than a generation ago. Massive "armored" power supplies. LC eq. Line amps with transformers the size of your fist and coupling caps the size of your pinky. This is not a mass-market mixer. It was not made to be light, compact, economical, or readily comprehensible to the neophyte. It was made to compete with the best in the world.

Our client John Savage, himself a studio owner, has a particular appreciation for our Electrodyne 2000 and is even nice enough to say so. Not only is John an afficianado of vintage gear, but he knows how to use it to best advantage by surrounding himself with great players and just letting them wail!
